Brief uit Zimbabwe
Wij ontvingen een brief uit Zimbabwe, die ruim 1 1/2 maand onderweg is geweest. Edna beschrijft de problemen in het land; een indruk uit de brief:
"The Prime Minister and the President have agreed on most of the things. We like him, we begin to understand him. We think he is a nice man. Schools and hospitals are working but both have nothing to use. In schools, no books, chalk and furniture. Medicine in hospitals are scarce. The biggest problem is how to get the US dollar. As you know a lot of rural people do not work. To those who are working are paid an allowance of US 100 per month. So it is realy very difficult. Some people have not harvested. We are happy this year because we have enough food to eat but not enough to sell. Last there was no where to buy anything, except to go to Mozambique".
